Autogate System Installation Malaysia
Autogate installation, replacement and repair across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Swing, sliding, folding and trackless systems, sized to your gate rather than sold as a fixed package. Every job starts with a free site survey before we quote.
Types of autogate system
The gate you already have usually decides the system. Swapping gate type mid-project means structural work, so the survey starts by looking at what is there: leaf weight, hinge condition, pillar alignment, driveway slope and how much room the gate has to swing into.
Swing autogate
The most common setup on Malaysian terrace houses. Two leaves swing inward on arm or underground motors. It is the simplest to install and the cheapest to maintain, but it needs clear space inside the compound for the leaves to open, which is a problem on short driveways where a car parks close to the gate.
Sliding autogate
The gate runs sideways along a track. Better for wide openings and short driveways because nothing swings into your parking space. Needs a clear run of wall or fence for the gate to slide along, and the track needs to stay clear of debris.
Folding autogate
Each leaf folds in half as it opens, so it needs roughly half the swing clearance. A good compromise when the driveway is too short for a swing gate but there is nowhere for a sliding gate to run.
A sliding-style gate that runs without a floor track, using a cantilever or guided arm instead. The right answer for uneven, sloped or frequently flooded driveways where a floor track would jam or collect debris. Read more on our trackless autogate page.
Underground motor
The motor sits in a housing below the hinge point, so nothing is visible on the gate itself. Cleaner looking and popular on bungalows and newer builds, but drainage in the housing matters or the motor sits in water.
Motors, power and what actually fails
DC or AC motor
DC motors run on battery with the mains as a charger, so the gate still opens during a power cut. That matters in areas with frequent outages or lightning trips. AC motors are cheaper and stronger for very heavy commercial gates but stop dead without mains power. For homes we fit DC in almost every case. More detail on the autogate motor page.
Matching the motor to gate weight
An undersized motor will open the gate fine for the first year and then start straining, overheating and burning out its control board. We weigh the job by leaf size and material rather than fitting whatever is in the van.
Battery backup
Backup batteries are consumable. They typically need replacing every couple of years, and a gate that has become slow or stops halfway is usually telling you the battery is going, not the motor.
Lightning and surge
Control boards are the most common casualty in a storm. Proper earthing and a surge arrestor cost far less than replacing a burnt board and transformer.
Safety sensors
Infrared beams stop the gate closing on a car, a pet or a child. They are the first thing skipped on a cheap quote and the first thing you regret skipping.
Gate design and material
Material affects both the look and the motor spec. Mild steel is the cheapest and needs repainting to hold off rust. Aluminium is lighter, will not rust, and lets you use a smaller motor. Stainless steel sits at the top for durability and price. Browse our auto gate design gallery for finished examples.
Mild steel
Lowest cost, heaviest, needs repainting every few years, especially in coastal or flood-prone areas.
Aluminium
Rust-free and light enough to reduce motor load. Popular for modern flat-slat designs.
Stainless steel
Longest lasting and the most expensive. Worth it where the gate is the main frontage of the house.
Repair and replacement
We service systems we did not install. Most callouts fall into a handful of patterns, and knowing which one you have usually tells you whether it is a small fix or a replacement.
Gate opens slowly or stops halfway
Almost always a tired backup battery, sometimes a motor straining against a dropped hinge.
Remote stopped working
Could be the remote battery, a lost pairing after a power cut, or a failed receiver on the control board.
Nothing responds at all
Usually a tripped supply, a burnt control board after a storm, or corroded wiring at the motor.
Gate grinds or judders
Track debris on a sliding gate, worn rollers, or hinge alignment that has shifted as the pillar settled.

Common autogate questions
Can you fit a motor to my existing gate?
Usually yes. The survey checks leaf weight, hinge condition and pillar alignment. If the hinges have dropped or the pillar has shifted, that gets corrected first, otherwise the new motor inherits the old problem and wears out early.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward swing or sliding installation on an existing gate is typically a single day. Underground motors, new wiring runs from the house, or gates needing structural correction can extend into a second day.
Will the gate open during a blackout?
With a DC motor, yes. It runs off a backup battery that the mains keeps charged, so an outage does not trap you in or out. AC systems do not have this and stop when the power does.
How many remotes do I get?
That is set in the quote. Additional remotes can be paired later, and we will show you how to pair a new one yourself rather than charging a callout for it.
Do you service other brands?
Yes. Most of our repair work is on systems installed by someone else. We diagnose first and tell you honestly whether a repair is worth it or whether replacement is the better spend.
What warranty do I get?
Our installation work carries a one-month warranty. The motor and control board are covered separately under the manufacturer terms for the brand fitted, which we confirm in writing on the quote.
