What we automate
Most homes do not need everything automated. The parts worth doing are the ones you touch daily or forget about entirely. We fit those first and leave room to expand later.
Lighting
Smart switches replacing your existing wall switches, so the light still works normally by hand and gains scheduling, dimming and voice control. We prefer switches over smart bulbs for main rooms, because a bulb is useless once someone flips the wall switch off.
Door locks
Digital locks with PIN, card, fingerprint and app entry, plus a mechanical key override. Useful for households where someone always forgets keys, and for letting a cleaner in without cutting a spare.
Curtains and blinds
Motorised tracks on a schedule or a scene. Genuinely useful on tall windows and in rooms you leave closed all day.
Air-conditioning
IR or Wi-Fi control so units can be scheduled, and so nobody leaves a bedroom running all day.
Cameras and sensors
Your CCTV, door sensors and motion detectors surfaced in the same app as everything else.
Gate and garage
Opening the autogate from the app, so you are not hunting for a remote that has gone flat.
Decisions worth making before you buy anything
Pick one ecosystem and stay in it
The most common smart home regret is five apps for five brands. We agree on one platform at the survey and select devices that work within it, so adding something next year does not mean starting again.
Wi-Fi or a hub
Wi-Fi devices are cheaper and fine in small numbers. Past roughly fifteen to twenty devices, a hub-based protocol such as Zigbee is more stable and stops your router struggling. Which one suits you depends on how far you intend to take it.
Neutral wire at the switch
Most smart switches need a neutral wire in the switch box. Older Malaysian wiring often does not have one. We check this during the survey, because finding out on installation day means either rewiring or changing the device plan.
What happens when the internet drops
A well-planned setup keeps working locally when the line goes down. Devices that need a cloud round-trip to switch a light will fail at the worst moment. This is a selection decision, not something you can fix later.
Who else lives there
If a system only works for one person, it gets abandoned. Physical switches keep working, guests get a PIN rather than an app account, and scenes are named for what they do.
New build or existing house
Both are workable. A house under renovation is easier because cabling and neutral wires can be planned in. An existing house is done with retrofit devices chosen around the wiring already there, which is why the survey matters more, not less.
Under renovation
We coordinate with your contractor while walls are open. Cheapest time to run anything, and the only time some options stay on the table.
Already lived in
Retrofit switches, wireless sensors and battery devices, with no hacking of finished walls unless you want it.
Apartment or condo
Fully workable. Anything touching the main door or common areas usually needs management approval first.
Common smart home questions
Do I have to automate the whole house at once?
No, and we would advise against it. Start with lighting in the rooms you use most and the front door, live with it for a month, then extend. Buying everything up front is how people end up with devices they never configured.
Will the lights still work if the app or Wi-Fi fails?
Yes, if the system is specified properly. We fit smart switches that still function as ordinary wall switches, so a network problem is an inconvenience rather than a house with no lights.
Can it work with my CCTV and autogate?
How long does installation take?
A lighting and door-lock package for a terrace house is typically one day. Whole-house automation with curtains, air-conditioning and hub setup runs longer and is usually staged.
What if I move house?
Switches and locks are fixed to the property and normally stay. Hubs, sensors and cameras can move with you. Worth mentioning at the survey if you are renting.
What warranty do I get?
Our installation work carries a one-month warranty. Devices are covered under the manufacturer terms for the brand supplied, stated on the quote.
What drives the cost
Smart home pricing varies more than any other system we install, because the scope is entirely yours to set. These are the factors that move the number, so you can shape the brief before asking for a quote.
Number of switch points
Counted per gang, not per room. A house with many two-way and three-way switch points costs more than the room count suggests.
Whether a neutral wire exists
If the switch boxes have no neutral, either the device selection changes or a wiring alteration is needed. This is the single biggest surprise in retrofit jobs, and the reason we check it before quoting.
Hub-based or Wi-Fi only
A hub adds cost up front and saves trouble past twenty or so devices. Below that, Wi-Fi devices alone are usually the sensible spend.
Motorised curtains
The most expensive item per unit, because the track and motor are priced by window width and weight.
Door lock specification
A PIN-only lock and a lock with fingerprint, card, app and auto-locking sit far apart on price.
Making good
Retrofitting into finished walls sometimes means patching and repainting. We flag this at survey rather than leaving it as an extra on the invoice.
